Blog 71. Marching on Independence day

It was quite a preparation for Independence Day. Our children like to practise for the marching. And we are very happy that also the Community Based Workshop marches along, pushing wheelchairs.
The difference between last years marching (our first time) and now, was that it now did’t come that unexpected, and we had the experience already.
Beautiful to see is that Ezekiel and Saviour last year were very shy to march themselves. Now they didn’t want to hear of being carried or in a wheelchair! They were so proud! And we were proud of them!
The organisation was much better: because we are very slow ‘marchers’, the school behind us are likely to overtake us. This year the organisation gave us plenty interval before the other schools were allowed to march.
Before we could march there were a lot of speeches and a demonstration in marching by the Senior High Schools of Sandema.
And then we were good to go! We marched in a square. In front you greet the police commander, the acting director of GES, the military and a representative of the District Assembly.
The representative of the District Assembly, the coordinator, gave us 300 GH¢, the Queen Mother gave us 20 GH¢, and somebody from the public donated to Saviour and Ezekiel each 10 GH¢.
The next day we used this money to have a soft drink and a snack together! Just to celebrate a great day!
